Many newcomers face deep emotional challenges as they adjust to new cultural norms, languages, social expectations, and changes in identity. These experiences, often referred to as acculturation challenges, lead to feelings of isolation, low self-worth, and grief over lost social status or community ties.

Couples Therapy

 

Relocating to a new country can place significant strain on couples, especially when cultural values shift and expectations around parenting and family roles are challenged. Many immigrant couples find themselves navigating unfamiliar systems, parenting in a new cultural context, and trying to maintain their connection while adjusting to a different way of life.

My approach combines evidence-based therapeutic methods such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and culturally sensitive interventions through the person-centred lens. This means that while using proven strategies to support emotional regulation, communication, and parenting alignment, I remain grounded in the belief that each partner brings their own lived experience, values, and inner wisdom to the healing process.

Through compassionate, non-judgmental, and culturally responsive therapy, I help couples create a safe space to rebuild trust, improve communication, and strengthen their partnership, while raising children in a new cultural landscape.
